Wessley Wyman Chagnon, a loving man, passed away on April 28, 2023, in Temple, Texas. He was born on April 5, 1954, in Plattsburgh, New York, to the late Herman Arthur Chagnon and Monica Chagnon. Wessley was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother who will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Wessley married the love of his life, Deborah (Cass) Chagnon, in Belton, Texas in 1977.
Wessley is survived by five wonderful children, AAron Chagnon and wife Loni of Granger, Texas, Colin Chagnon and wife Amanda of Temple, Texas, Wes Morgan of Round Rock, Texas, Jennifer Chagnon of Belton, Texas, and Jessica Chagnon of Belton, Texas; three brothers, Wayne Chagnon, Tony Chagnon and Bobby Chagnon all of New York; 13 grandchildren, Faith, Rylee, Breighanna, Maddison, CJ, Carter, Adrianna, Jordan, Jase, Junior, Michael, Ethan, and Christopher. Wessley was also blessed with four great-grandchildren, Ava and Bella, Charlie and Colsyn.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Monica Chagnon, and his sister, Brenda Cummings.
Wessley proudly served his country in the United States Army for 12 years and in the Vietnam War.
In his free time, Wessley enjoyed a variety of hobbies and interests. He was an avid bowler. His love for puzzles kept his mind sharp and provided countless hours of entertainment for him and his family. As a lifelong Star Trek fan, Wessley enjoyed watching the series and movies. He was also a dedicated New York Giants fan and had a love for carpentry.
Wessley Wyman Chagnon will be remembered as a loving, kind, and selfless man who dedicated his life to his family, his country, and his community. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
