Walter ""Brother"" Thornton Humphries Jr.

November 1, 1969 — February 15, 2018

Walter ""Brother"" Thornton Humphries Jr. , 48, of Round rock passed away on Thursday, February 15, 2018. A visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at Crotty Funeral Home in Belton. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at 3C Cowboy Fellowship in Salado with Pastor Bryan Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Little Flock Cemetery in Temple. Walter was the only son of Walter and Michal(Mikie)Humphries. He was born on November 1, 1969 in Temple. Walter was a dare devil at a very young age. He got his first motorcycle at age three and didn't even need training wheels. At age four he started riding horses in the Junior Rodeo and then went to riding bulls. He was very active in Junior Rodeo but racing was his true passion. Walter watched his father compete in racing his whole life and it was just in his blood. At age 10 he started racing motocross. He won so many races and eventually was #1 in the state. He raced a Drag Bike for Harley Davidson and set a record at 150 mph. Walter competed in nationals and won exactly 30 years to the day that his father won. He also raced stock and sprint cars. Walter was a General Manager at Forta for over 12 years and just recently started selling cars at Mac Haik in Georgetown and he just really enjoyed it and was really good at it. Walter was a very outgoing man and never met a stranger. He enjoyed telling stories and was known for exaggerating them just a tad. As much as he loved racing Walter loved his family even more. You should have seen the change in him when he became a father. He loved being with his boys and spending summers with them on the lake and their dog, Sprocket. He will be dearly missed by so many people who loved him. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Grover and Lucille Humphries, and Michael and Norma Sablich. He is survived by his parents, Michal(Mikie)and Walter Thornton Humphries Sr. of Temple; his sons, Walter ""Thorn"" Thornton Humphries III, and Rhyder Dalton Humphries of Belton; his sister Michelle and husband, Michael McLean of Temple; and many cherished relatives and friends. Arrangements are entrusted to Crotty Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Belton.
