Sonny "Joe" Arreguin

April 14, 1967 — September 9, 2024

Killeen, Texas

Sonny Joe Arreguin, known affectionately as Joe, was born on April 14, 1967, in Houston. Joe passed away unexpectedly on September 9, 2024, at a hospital in Killeen. Joe's legacy shines through the lives he touched and the memories he created.

A viewing for Joe will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2024 from 2 P.M to 4:00 P.M. at Belton Nazarene Church. Family and friends are invited to share memories at the beginning of his viewing. There will be not traditional service because Joe was not a traditional man. Family and friends are invited to wear Houston Texans and Texas Longhorn shirts in honor of Joe.

Raised as a military brat and a proud graduate of Killeen High School, Joe was a man whose roots ran deep into the heart of Texas. His commitment to his community was evident through his dedicated work with the International Alliance for Theatrical Stage Employee Union, where he found great joy in setting up stages for local artists. He enjoyed helping bring the magic of the stage to life for all to enjoy.

Joe's passion for life was matched by his love for his family, the cornerstone of his world. He and his beloved wife, LaRae Arreguin, nurtured a family that included his devoted mother, Simona Arreguin; his loving children, James (Shelby) Mezenen, Anthony (Michelle) Mezenen, Skilar (Jessica) Mezenen, Sonny Arreguin, Cassie Taylor-Rios, Kaelie (Anthony) Rivera, and Simona Arreguin; his caring brother, Gregory (Rita) Arreguin; his supportive sisters, Reyna (Jimmy) Noland and Irma Arreguin-Rosiles; his mother in law, Tonie Barkdull, his brother in laws, David Edwards and Jason Edwards, numerous cherished family members, and the biggest joy of his later years, his twenty-five grandchildren.

Gardening and woodworking were among Joe's favorite pastimes, his hands as skilled in nurturing the earth as they were in crafting wood into works of art. His love for the outdoors was evident in his frequent trips to the lake, where barbecuing for his family was not just a meal but an event, filled with stories, smiles, and the sizzle of good times. An avid fan of the Houston Texans and the Texas Longhorns, Joe's spirit was a testament to the resilience and camaraderie that define football and, indeed, all of life's challenges.

Sonny Joe Arreguin's story does not end here; it is merely the beginning of a new chapter in the hearts of those he loved. His journey continues in the lives he shaped, the community he served, and the love he shared.
