Shirley Ruth Luman, devoted mother, proud grandmother, and cherished friend, left this world on March 19, 2025, at the WesternHill Nursing Home, surrounded by love and memories that she cultivated throughout her life. Born on June 27, 1942, in the quaint town of Beaumont, Shirley was a beacon of warmth and kindness, destined to leave her mark on all who crossed her path.
After graduating from Dawson Texas High School, Shirley embarked on a fulfilling career as an Independent Personal Caregiver. Her unwavering dedication to caring for others not only reflected her own nurturing spirit but also showcased her belief in the fundamental value of compassion and support. Those whom she cared for were not merely patients to her; they were part of her extended family.
Shirley found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She was a passionate bowler and enjoyed participating in women’s softball, where her competitive spirit shone brightly. Fishing was a beloved pastime, allowing her moments of tranquility under the sun, while bingo nights brought laughter and camaraderie with friends and fellow enthusiasts. Each of these hobbies reinforced the friendships she made and the bonds she cherished throughout her journey.
Shirley was a proud and loving mother to her three sons: Richard "Rick" Sauls, Bruce Sauls, and Michael Sauls. The love she shared with her children was immeasurable, and her legacy continues through them. She was blessed with six grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in her heart. Shirley took immense pride in her family, celebrating every milestone and relishing the moments spent together, whether it was an afternoon of fishing or a quiet evening recounting stories.
Though she faced the pain of loss in her life, having to say goodbye to her dear husband, Jerry Don Luman, and her beloved brother, Herman Johnson, Shirley's strength and resilience shone through. Their memories lived on in her heart, and she honored them through the love she expressed daily and the moments she cherished with her living family.
Shirley's spirit will forever remain a guiding light in the lives of her sons, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her laughter, kindness, and unwavering love will be dearly missed but will continue to echo in the hearts of all who knew her. As we reflect on her remarkable life, we celebrate the indelible impact she has left on her family and community—a legacy defined by love, care, and joy.
