Ruben Ortiz

Ruben Ortiz, 80, of Temple passed away on Saturday March 11, 2023 at his residence.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 on Friday March 17, 2023, at Crotty Funeral Home in Belton with Father Cletus Ranjan officiating.

A visitation will be held Thursday, March 16, 2023, from 5:00P.M. until 7:00P.M. Rosary will be recited at 6:00P.M.

Ruben Ortiz was born on March 15,1942 in Nordheim, TX.  to Porfirio and Anita Garcia Ortiz. He married his wife Alice Cantu of 56 years on June 27, 1966 in Belton, TX.

Ruben farmed most of his life and worked for several companies, Temple Iron and Metal, BFI Waste Management and City of Temple Waste Management until his retirement in 2005.

Ruben was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of Temple. He loved spending time with his family, especially if music and dancing were involved. Ruben was kind and always ready to help any neighbor in need.

Survivors are his wife, Alice Ortiz of Temple; one son Johnny and wife, Lisa Ortiz of Oenaville; two brothers, Eleazar "Charlie" Cantu of Oenaville, Elias Cantu of Temple; three sisters, Oralia Gonzales of San Antonio, Rosie Cassell of Indiana Trail, NC. and Josie Bottorf of Marshall, AR.; four grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.

Burial will be at Oenaville Cemetery following services.

Crotty Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Belton is in charge of arrangements.
