Ronald M. Buck Jr.

January 17, 1944 — July 24, 2021

Ronald M Buck Jr was born on January 17, 1944 in Battle Creek, MI to Dr. Ronald M Buck and Leone Brace Buck. He lived in St Joseph, MO until he was 12 and then moved to Tustin, CA. He graduated from Tustin High-school in 1961, received his Bachelors from Cal Berkeley in 1965, his Masters in Journalism from the University of Missouri in 1967, and his DDS from Howard University in 1975. He had two children, Christie and Melanie, with his first wife, Barbara, and they lived in Colorado where he had his dental practice. Later on he married Debbie Elliott and considered her two grown sons, Rob and Scott, his own. They were married until her passing in 2015.
Ron was an avid golfer and enjoyed letting people think he didn’t play much (and then leave them shocked when he soundly beat them!) Highlights of his hobby were in 1998 when he took a golf trip to Scotland and when he achieved a hole in one on the 12th hole of Ute Creek Golf Course in Longmont, CO.
In 2001, God called him to Himself and he made a profession of faith in Jesus and was soon after baptized. He was a faithful member of Foothills Bible Church in Littleton, CO and later a member of Tapestry Community Church in Belton, Texas. His years as a believer were spent volunteering at church, going on several mission trips, making a lot of amazing friends, and loving his friends and family. He was a very generous person with both his time and money. Many times we found out about something he had done for someone, not because he made a big deal of it but because someone would tell us about it later. He had an infectious laugh and a willingness to try almost anything which encouraged his grandkids to convince him to go on adventures or to play crazy video games with them. In 2016 he decided to buy a home in Texas in order to live near his daughter, Christie, and her family. The last few years found him at every ballet, recital, and concert his daughter and grand daughters were in and we’re pretty certain he always clapped the loudest. He was very proud of his kids and grandkids and thought they could do just about anything they put their minds to. He recently had several friends and family travel long distance to see him when they realized how sick he was. At the very end, he was surrounded by his family in his home while they shared stories about him and listened to his favorite hymns. He entered the arms of Jesus at 11:50 pm on Saturday, July 24, 2021 at his home in Harker Heights, TX. Ron is survived by his children and step children: Christie and Corey Dawson, Melanie Buck and Jeff Giles, Rob and Karina Elliott and Scott and Amanda Elliott, his grandchildren: Jeremy and Rebekah Dawson, Emily and Cameron Aaron, Zach Carlson, Abby Dawson, Zoey Dawson, and Karli Dawson, his great grand daughter, Ellie Aaron, his siblings: Nancy and Jim Brundy and Jim and Julie Buck, and his sweet kitties: Jessie and James. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him and we look forward to the day when we will see him again.
Private family services will be held at a later date.
Arrangements are entrusted to Crotty Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Belton.
