Robert Carrol Bailey, known to friends as Bob and his family as Dad and Pa, passed away peacefully in Belton, Tx on January 9, 2025, at the age of 86. He was born on June 25, 1938, to Burgin O. Bailey and Maurine Cox, in Belton. Robert's life was a testament to the values of family, hard work, and service to others.
Robert's early years were spent in the halls of Belton High School, where he played many sports (football, baseball, and boxing) and graduated in the class of 1956. Robert made his mark as a respected salesman in the oil field business. He also thrived as an entrepreneur, with the creation of a tool to help in the oil field industry.
Beyond his professional achievements, Robert was a man of great civic pride and involvement. His dedication to community service was evident in his longstanding commitment of 34 years to the Elks Lodge. There, he was not only a member but an active participant, running the Hoop Shoot program for many years, which brought joy and development to the youth of Central Texas. He donated blood at Scott & White over 100 times to help others. Per his wishes, he donated his body to the UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, TX.
Robert's zest for life was matched by his love for leisure and all things sports. An avid golfer, he could often be found on the greens, enjoying the game and the camaraderie that came with it. His passion for sports did not stop at playing golf, he enjoyed watching any game he could, donating to local sports programs, and watching his grandkids in their sporting events. The simple pleasures of life, like sitting on his back porch, participating in chili cook-offs, the thrill of going to the casinos, and spending time with his family were sources of great joy for him. Those who knew Robert would describe him as kind, friendly, and generous.
These qualities were the cornerstones of his life and were reflected in the love and care he showed to his family and friends. He leaves behind his sister, Margaret Allsup; his daughter, Kimala Wilson (Charles); his son, Scott Bailey; and his daughter, Kennetta Boston. His life was further enriched by his 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and former partner Debbie Carnahan, all of whom brought him immense pride and happiness. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, five of his siblings, his son Craig Bailey, and his daughter Teresa Hosch.
As we remember Robert, we think of a man whose life was full of purpose and joy. His memory will be cherished and kept alive in the stories told by those he touched. Robert's journey on this earth may have ended, but the impact of his love, kindness, and generosity will continue to touch the lives of his family and friends. Robert will be deeply missed.
