Ricky Eugene Jones, a native of Amarillo, TX, was born December 1, 1950. He passed on May 2, 2020 in Temple, TX A celebration of life service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 20, 2020, at the Northside Church of Christ in Temple, Texas. Ricky was born to the union of Odell and Alberta Jones. Rick started his education at North Heights Elementary school, then on to Carver Jr. High-High School and graduated from Palo Duro High School. He attended West Texas State University and received his Financial Certification from University of Oklahoma. Rick started his finance and banking career as a manager of Household Finance Corp. (HFC) in Midland-Odessa and San Antonio areas. After being with HFC for 3 years he moved his family back to Amarillo to begin working for First National Bank as a loan office and advanced his way to Manager of the Mastercard and Visa Department. He coached his two sons' sports teams, baseball, football, soccer in their younger years. He also loved watching his grandsons play sports. His pastimes were fishing, listening to music, and putting jigsaw puzzles together. A few of Rick's past community participations included him serving as Deacon in charge of Finance at Bell Avenue and Golden Plains Churches of Christ, member of Amarillo Downtown Kawanis, President of Habitat for Humanity, and he served on the Board of Directors at Kids Incorporated. Rick is preceded in death by his parents, stepmother Katherine Jones 1 brother Ray Thel Jones, and 2 sisters, Sharon Frances Coleman and Lottie Williams. He leaves to cherish his memories his wife of 48 years, La-Juania Sanders Jones; two sons, Daimon Jones (Laura) and Terrell Jones (Brandi); three grandson - Robert P. Owen, Taygen A. Jones, Jaxon K. Jones and a granddaughter Maddie Sowers. He is further survived by 2 brothers Odell Jones of Lewisville, KY and Glen Jones of Tampa, FL, 3 sisters Vera Graves, Lisa Phillips, and Lynn Scott; 1 step brother Albert Neal Williams, 3 step sisters Maggie Marshall, Gayle Soders and Kathy Parker and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Our family gratefully acknowledges your many kind expressions of love, prayers, support, and sympathy during our time of bereavement.
