Michael Gilmore

Michael Joshua Gilmore (Josh), age 48, left this earth to be in the presence of Jesus on Sunday, December 11, 2022, at his home in Temple,TX.

A celebration of life will be held on February 18, 2023, at 11:00 AM at the Lovely in Merkel, TX. Services will be officiated by Collin Jacobs.

Josh was born February 25, 1974, in Lockhart, TX to Margaret Gilmore. He graduated from Merkel High School in 1992. Before and after graduating, Josh spent many years doing wheat harvest where he met his beloved, life-long friends, the Buckner family of Plainview, TX. It was from wheat harvest where he learned that he wanted to be a professional truck driver. Josh drove a truck for 25 years and always prided himself on being accident-free while driving over 1⁄4 of a million miles for one company. He was blessed to have driven in all the contiguous 48 states and Canada. Josh loved his large family and host of friends. He always kept in touch with his best friends: Brent Toombs, Shawn Gilbreath, Joe and ShaRae Madewell, Collin Jacobs, Casey Ellison, and Donald Hair. Everyone in his circle of friends knew how much he loved and cared for them all. This care was reciprocated by their love and appreciation for Josh.

Survivors include his mother, Margaret Townsend of Temple, TX; brother and sister-in-law Cole and Monica Townsend of Temple, TX; a daughter, Brandall Kilpatrick of Abilene, TX; aunt, Barbara Gilmer of Lockhart, TX, and an uncle, Ronnie Gilmore and wife Annie of Bangs TX, plus a large, loving number of cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mamaw Neta Gilmore and Papaw Robert I. Gilmore, his uncles, Jerald Gilmore and Bob Gilmer, and his stepfather, Larry Townsend.
