Marshall James McDonnel, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and dedicated engineer, passed away on June 8, 2024, in Temple, Texas. Born on February 27, 1950 in Austin, Texas to Billy Joe and Dorothy McDonnel, Marshall was a beacon of Christian faith and kindness throughout his life.
Marshall's career as an engineer was marked by dedication and hard work, he committed 40 years to his profession until his well-deserved retirement in 2012.
A man of profound Christian faith, Marshall was known for his selflessness and compassion towards others. He lived each day guided by his love for the Lord.
Outside of work, Marshall found solace in the great outdoors. As a passionate outdoorsman, he indulged in activities such as bowhunting and a particular favorite, fishing with his friends and son.
However, his greatest joy came from spending quality time with his family, friends and his devoted wife of 51 years, Alice Mae McDonnel. Together with Alice, he built a life filled with love and many cherished memories that will forever hold a special place in her heart.
In addition to Alice, Marshall is survived by his son Kenneth McDonnel, daughter Michelle Meli and her husband Bryan, brother, Earl McDonell, two sisters; as well as grandchildren Eric, Elise, and Gavin.
Marshall was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Gerald McDonnel.
A Funeral Service to honor and celebrate the life of Marshall James McDonnel will be held on June 23, 2024 at the Full Gospel Holiness Church in Bartlett, Texas.
The service will be a reflection of the remarkable man Marshall was—faithful, compassionate, and deeply loved by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
Rest in peace dear Marshall; your legacy will forever be remembered with love and gratitude.
