Dr. Louis Adair Mitchell passed away in Temple, Texas on November 14, 2024. He is survived by his wife Norma Boyett Mitchell, his children Louis Mitchell Jr., Gregory Court of Lubbock and Kimberly Davies of Cedar Park, TX, and his grandchildren Conner and Mollie Mitchell, Madeleine Court, and Robin and Jackson Davies.
Louis Mitchell was born to Ralph James and Ellen Adair (née Jones) Mitchell in Decatur, Georgia on August 18, 1946. Louis is preceded in death by his brother Ralph James Jr. and sister Mary Ellen.
Louis is a graduate of Druid Hills High School and Georgia Tech, where he majored in Chemistry, and Medical College of Georgia at Georgia Regents University in 1972. He joined the Air Force and became a board-certified Anesthesiologist. He was stationed at Lackland AFB when he met and married Carol Court in San Antonio, Texas in 1975. He was later stationed at Travis AFB in California, and upon leaving the service as a Major, moved his family first to Greenwood, MS and then to Lubbock, TX. He worked as an anesthesiologist at Methodist Hospital (now Covenant) in Lubbock for many years, and he was a member and deacon of Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He met and married Norma Boyett in 2000 and together they raised champion Scottish Terriers. He proudly served a year as the Treasurer for the Health Trust Fund of the Scottish Terrier Club of America. He retired from practicing medicine and moved to Temple, TX.
Dr. Mitchell loved his family, pets, and art. He enjoyed classical music and the symphony, playing the flute, Corvettes, photography, sailing, Clydesdale horses and lemon icebox pie. He was so kind to all of those who knew him, and he will be incredibly missed.
