Lona Deal

January 16, 1944 — March 10, 2023

Belton, Texas

Lona Joyce Beck Deal of Belton, Texas passed peacefully on Friday, March 10, 2023, at Baylor Scott & White Hospital in Temple TX. Her husband was holding her hand, and family had been there earlier to see her as well.

A celebration of life will be held at 2 PM Saturday, March 18, 2023, at Northside Church of Christ in Temple TX.

Lona was born to Winfred and Frances Beck on January 16, 1944 in Denton, Texas. She grew up in Denton and met her husband, Bob, when she was just 16. She married her sweetheart on February 3, 1961 in Denton TX. Who said that young love would not last? They recently celebrated 62 years of marriage.

Church was a huge part of her life. She & Bob were even lifeguards at the church camp in Denton. She had many church friends in Denton, Temple, and even as far away as Ohio. She absolutely loved her church family and was a faithful Christian for nearly 70 years.

Lona was a homemaker most of their married years. She loved spending time with family and friends. She and Bob could play a mean game of canasta, and they put many miles on her father's boat while water skiing. There were smiles plentiful and laughter abundant. Rarely, did anyone ever see Lona without a smile. Lona spent hours upon hours crocheting, knitting, sewing, oil painting and making jewelry. She created beautiful pieces of art. Some of which, she would even sell. For the ones that knew her well, she was always stylish and a cutting-edge dresser, who also loved doing things with her great hair.

After raising their children, Bob and Lona spent several years being full time RVer's, traveling some beautiful country. This was called, the time of their lives.

Lona rarely went a day without calling her kids just to check in. Even though miles apart at times, it made her feel closer. The girls will miss those daily calls from their mom.

Lona was preceded in death by her parents, Winfred and Frances Beck, and her brother, Charlie Beck.

Lona will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Bob Deal; her four children, Robert Deal and wife Jennifer from Denton TX, Leslie Deal and wife Regina from Denton TX, Christy Spain and husband Bob from Rowlett TX, Misty McNairn and husband Mike from Round Rock TX; a brother, W. C. Beck, Jr; nine grandchildren; Russell, Mitchell, Les Jr., Gray, Levi, Hope, Haylie, Hillary, Jasmine and ten great grandchildren.

Arrangements are entrusted to Crotty Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Belton.
