Lillyan Marie (Mills) Washington,86, of Copperas Cove went to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 19, 2015 at a Copperas Cove nursing home. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 P.M. on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at St. Christopher's Episcopal Church located at 2800 West Trimmier Rd. in Killeen. Lillyan Mills Washington was born on February 4, 1929 to Walter and Fleeta Mills in Baltimore. Lillyan attended Virginia Union College and later became the first African American Disc Jockey for CBS Radio in Baltimore. Lillyan met and married William P. Washington, they had two sons Paul and Kenneth Washington. Lillyan was an Eastern Star Member of Maryland Jurisdiction. She retired from the Federal Government after 30 honorable years in the Nation's Capital. Lillyan enjoyed attending church at St. Christopher's Episcopal Church in Killeen, reading, Jazz, traveling to Hawaii and Mexico, and spending time with her family. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Lillyan was preceded in death by her sister Mary of Baltimore. She is survived by her loving sons, Paul Washington of Denver, CO, and Kenneth and wife Tracy of Killeen, TX; two grandchildren ,and two great grandchildren.
