Latrelle Smith

Latrelle K. Smith, 82, of Silver City, NM passed away on Sunday, July 3, 2016 at her daughter's home in Belton, TX surrounded by family, after a long and valiant battle with cancer and COPD. Her body was cremated and private family services will be held at a later date. Latrelle was born on April 17, 1934 in Louisville, MS to Pruitt and Jakie Murphy Kinard. She married Byron Smith on March 28, 1970 in California and he preceded her in death on April 24, 2012. Latrelle worked as a data payroll processor for Brown and Root Construction and then Phelps Dodge Copper Mining until her retirement in 1998. She loved cooking, gardening, shopping, and spending time with family and friends. Latrelle was a very kind, compassionate, and loving soul who touched the lives of all who had the pleasure of knowing her. It is this love and compassion she had for everyone that will be so greatly missed. Latrelle is survived by her three children, seven grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and her very loved dog Smitty. Survivors include son Scott Smith, wife Tamara, and two grandsons Justin and Tyler of Huffman, TX; son Steven Smith, wife Alicia, and grandchildren Payton, Logan, Laramie, and Colton of Cache, OK; daughter Kelli Smith, partner Taisa, and granddaughter Jillian of Belton, TX; and great-granddaughter Lillian of Huffman, TX.
