La Nell "Doodie" Walts ,86,of Killeen passed away on August 23, 2012 in a Temple hospital. Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. at Immanuel Lutheran Church of Killeen with Vicar Joe Woodward officiating. Visitation will be one hour before service at the church. She was born on October 16, 1925 in Airville, TX.to Albert and Adela Rinn Bartek She married Bill Walts They were married over 60 years. She was a very active and wonderful woman who enjoyed life. She was an active part of the country western band "The Goodtimers". She loved line dancing, two stepping, and gardening. She was a member of the Ladies Auxillary for the American Legion. She taught several young people to dance. That was one of her favorite things to do. Her flowers in the back yard of her home were her pride and joy. When they bloomed, she would take pictures to show everyone and capture the moment. She had the greenest thumb in town. She also was a member of the Gilmore Center and the Lions Club for seniors. Her and her husband played music once a month for the seniors to dance and enjoy the music. Several seniors would come to the stage to get her to dance with them because they knew she was wanting to get on that dance floor. Doodie and Bill could really "cut a rug" back in the day. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother and will be missed by everyone She is survived by her husband Bill Walts of Waco;one son ,James Walts of ;one daughter, Billie Smith of Killeen:one brother, Adelbert Bartek of Harker Heights; one sister, Jo Mildred "Tootsie" Humphrey of Houston;one grandson Cody and his wife Kasey Smith of Belton and one great granddaughter Lauren Smith; several nieces and nephews. Burial will be at killeen Memorial Park.
