Obituary for K (Kathryn) McMinn

Kathryn “K” McMinn, 95, passed away on March 10, 2025, at Canyon Creek Memory Care. She was born in Cadiz, Bee County, Texas on June 5, 1929 to Henry and Jewel George Bishop. She graduated from George West High and attended Texas A&I at Kingsville. In addition to being a homemaker, she worked as a bank teller, bookkeeper, and small business owner. She loved the outdoors, spending many weekends hiking and camping on the Hubbard family land with family and friends.

Teens and young adults of the 60’s and 70’s may recall K’s Records, Tapes, and Things in downtown Temple. K was a great listener who could keep the secrets of her young customers and her children’s friends. She was fashionable, caring, and devoted to the community. She was a PTA mom, Brownie and Cub Scout leader, and community volunteer for church, MHMR, and the arts, acting in local plays and dancing in later years with the Happy Tappers, a senior ladies’ troop.

K had been a member of Christ Episcopal Church and later joined the Unitarian Church of Morgan’s Point with her husband, Lt. Col. Truman (Ret.) “Mac” McMinn. They traveled extensively and loved hosting family and friends at their home on Lake Belton.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Louise Barrera, brother Tom Bishop, son James “Jay” Hubbard, husband Mac McMinn, and son-in-law, David Neuwirth.

Survivors include daughter Glynda Hubbard Neuwirth and fiancé Dr. Yair Gazitt, granddaughter Tamara Neuwirth, granddaughter Tabitha Egbert and husband Michael, great-grandson David, and several nieces and nephews.

The family thanks Canyon Creek Memory Care, Heart to Heart Hospice, and Crotty Funeral Home and Cremation Services.

A memorial will be at a later date.

Donations to the Alzheimer’s Association, any charity, or kind words and deeds are appreciated in her memory.
