Joseph David Smith

Joseph David Smith, 75, of Temple passed away Wednesday, May 06, 2015 at his residence. A memorial service will be held at 10 A.M. on Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at Crotty Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Belton with Pastor Rodney Tedford officiating. Joseph David Smith was born March 11, 1940 to James Keene and Vera Smith in Bristol, Virginia. He served in the U.S. Army for over twenty three years. After his retirement from the military he taught Junior ROTC at Mercer County Schools. He dedicated his life to training and teaching Junior ROTC. Joseph married the love of his life Maria Smith on March 21, 1982 in Belton. He loved to work on and collect model trains, walking, his dog Amy, and spending time with his family. Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, James and Vera Keene; one brother, Glen Keene. He is survived by his loving wife, Maria Smith of Temple; two sons Karl Fuchs of Belton and Teddy Shoop of Florence; six daughters, Janelle (Dawn) Carter of Colorado Springs, Shelia Wheeler of Richardson, Silvia Sydes of Georgetown, Monica Hanusch of Temple, and Christine Culver of Belton; two brothers, Thomas Keene and Jimmy Keene of Charleston, WV; twelve grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
