John Thompson Sweitzer Jr.

John Thompson Sweitzer Jr.,79, of Harker Heights, passed away on Friday, June 9, 2017 at a local hospital. A memorial services will be held at 12:00 P.M. on Thursday, June 15, 2017 at Central Texas State Veterans State Cemetery in Killeen. John was born on January 14, 1938 to John and Geraldine Sweitzer in Reading, PA. John served in the U.S. Army for over 20 years and retired. After retiring, he began working as Civil Service on Fort Hood Military Base and retired from there as well. John enjoyed bingo, watching movies, collecting movies, John Wayne, poker games, and spending time with his family. He was a lifetime member of the VFW, American Legion, and D.A.V. He is precede in death by his wife, Anna Sweitzer and his parents, John and Geraldine Sweitzer. John is survived by his son, John Thompson Sweitzer III of Harker Heights; his daughters, Carol Anderson of Killeen and Geraldine Lainberger of Bakersfield, CA; his brother, Tom Sweitzer of Pennsylvania; his sisters, Pat DeAngelo and Bonny Larkin, both of Pennsylvania; seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
