John Walter Neugent

John Walter Neugent, 85, of Temple passed away on Friday, September 24, 2021, at his residence.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Monday, October 4, 2021 at Crotty Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Belton. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, October 5, 2021, at Agape Christian Center of Belton with his son, Kelvin Neugent officiating. Burial will follow at Bellwood Cemetery in Temple.

Johnny was born on July 22, 1936, to Dalton and Florence Neugent in Keystone, OK. Even as a young child Johnny was a firm believer in God and gave communion every Sunday at the Church of Christ that he attended. He served in the U.S Navy as sea men on aircraft carriers. Johnny married the love of his life, Mary E. Neugent on August 29, 1962. Johnny worked as a power plant mechanic at Scott & White for over 33 years in Temple and retired in 2008. Johnny enjoyed attending church at Agape Christian Center in Belton, farmers markets, working on his rent houses, and being with his wife. He loved playing Hoopty Doo with his grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. His family will miss his little jokes and his smile dearly.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary E, Neugent on January 16, 2021, his brothers, Darvin Neugent, Eugene Neugent, and Franky Neugent, and his sister, Eilene Shupp.


Johnny is survived by his sons, Kelvin Neugent and his wife, Terresa of Moffat, Ronnie Lynn Neugent and wife, Geri of Fayetteville, AR; his sisters, Vera Faught and husband, Bill of Lexington, OK, Juanita Jordan of San Angelo, and Sue Sidener and husband, Roger of San Angelo ;four grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and many cherished family members and friends.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Heart Association and Alzheimer's Association.

Arrangements are entrusted to Crotty Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Belton.
