Jeniece Ann Kasey, known affectionately as Jeniece to her loved ones and friends, passed away peacefully due to natural causes on November 17, 2024, in Harker Heights, TX. Born on March 23, 1931, in Kokomo, Indiana, she lived a full and vibrant life filled with love, creativity, and a spirit of generosity that touched everyone she knew.
A memorial service for Jeniece will be held on November 30, 2024 at Central Church Of Christ In Pflugerville at 12:00 PM. Her graveside memorial service will be held on December 3, 2024 at 1:00 PM where she will be laid to rest with her husband, Robert Kasey ay Central Texas State Veteran Cemetery in Killeen.
Jeniece's journey began as the cherished daughter of Gerald and Beulah Pickering and the sister to Thomas Pickering. Throughout her life, she cultivated a family of her own, including her beloved late husband, Robert (Bob) Kasey, with whom she shared many joyful years until his passing. She was a devoted mother to her son, Terry Kasey, and daughter, Lori Tooley (husband, Kirk Tooley). Her legacy continued to grow with her five grandchildren—Elizabeth Kasey, Courtney Westbrook (husband Cody), Kasey Tooley (wife Nicole), and Brandon Tooley—along with her five great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews, who all held a special place in her heart.
Jeniece's passion for sports was evident to all who knew her. She shined as a semi-professional softball pitcher, and her competitive spirit and skill carried her to remarkable heights. Her impressive accomplishments included being inducted into the IWBA Bowling Hall of Fame and the KWBA Hall of Fame. With 44 KWBA championship titles under her belt, Jeniece was a force to be reckoned with, especially during the 1956-57 season when she secured championship titles in every scratch category of the tournament. She also won the WISBA Singles Championship in 1958 and the WISBA Doubles Championship in 1960. At the 1974 National Championship, Jeniece proudly placed 3rd in doubles. Her prowess wasn't limited to individual accolades; she held the city record for high actual team series with an impressive score of 2967 and a high actual team game of 1035.
Beyond the bowling alleys and softball fields, Jeniece had a love for golf, playing cards, and knitting. Her creative hands crafted over 30 intricate afghans, which she generously gifted to family and friends, wrapping them in the warmth of her love.
Those who knew Jeniece would describe her as a loving matriarch, a generous friend, and a creative soul whose talents and kindness knew no bounds. Her warm presence and the joy she brought to every gathering will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Jeniece's life was a testament to the impact one person can have on so many. Her unwavering support for her family, her dedication to her sports, and her creative contributions to the world around her have left a lasting legacy. She will be remembered for her loving nature, her fierce competitiveness, and her generous spirit, which will continue to inspire those who carry her memory in their hearts.
As we say goodbye to Jeniece Ann Kasey, we celebrate a life well-lived, a path well-traveled, and a woman well-loved. Her memory will forever be cherished and honored by her family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to cross paths with her.
