It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved daughter, sister, wife and mother, Janet Gray Unger Skeem of Temple. She made her peaceful transition into the arms of our Lord and Savior, surround by her loving family on Friday, March 28, 2025.
Janet Gray Unger was born in Provo, Utah to her parents William Lewis “Bill” Unger and Kelly Ann (Gray) Fisher. Janet was a happy girl growing up. She always had smile on her face and the cutest giggle you could ever imagine. Her best friend in the early years of her life was her big brother Steven. They were only 2 years apart in age. She loved hanging out with him and going anywhere he was. She was also a very girly girl. She loved dressing up in all things pink and frilly.
The Unger family moved to Hemet, California in 1983. Janet continued her primary education until she graduated from Hemet High School in 2000 achieving a 4.3 GPA. While attending high school, Janet excelled on the water polo team and school choir. She was active in her church, as well as volunteering her many talents with her community. She continued her educational studies at LDS Business College in Salt Lake City, accomplishing an Associate of Science degree in 2002.
While Janet was at college, she met the love of her life Kimin Lee Skeem. She was over the moon for him. They married in the San Diego LDS Temple on June 30, 2001. They resided in Utah until her graduation from college. Kimin entered the Armed Services early in their marriage and enjoyed many traveling adventures as a young couple.
Aside from Kimin, Janet’s greatest accomplishment would be her 3 children. Brooklyn Lee Skeem, Donald Alexander “Alex” Skeem, and Olivia Ann Skeem.
Janet had a great heart, and she loved hard too. She was as sweet as they come, as her many friends can attest too. Janet had so many talents and we were the lucky beneficiaries of them! Her best and most renowned talent was that of professional photographer. She photographed many weddings, graduation and family portraits in the greater San Antonio Texas area. She just had an eye for all things beautiful and knew how to make beautiful portraits come to life. She could play the piano by sight her proud dad and mom would comment. Her full-time day job was in the engineering department at Apple. She was also a selfless hero in our family as she saved her sister’s life in a house fire in her youth.
Left to cherish her memory, is her beloved husband Kimin, her 3 children: Brooklyn, Alex, and Olivia, her father and step-mother: Bill and Yolanda Unger, her mother and step-father: Kelly and Brad Fisher, her brothers and spouses: Steven and Holly Unger, Marcus and Siyinkca Unger, Mathew and Mariah Unger, and sister and brother-in-law: Megan and Steven Garcia.
