James Robert Plotts, age 69, of Temple, known affectionately as Jimmy, passed away on December 22, 2023, in Mission, Texas. He was born on February 12, 1954, in New Jersey. Jimmy led a remarkable life filled with love, dedication, and hard work.
After completing his education at High Point Regional High School in New Jersey, after high school Jimmy worked as a fireman for several years at Newton Fire Department in New Jersey. Jimmy left New jersey and started his career as a truck driver for Swift Transportation in Temple and traversed countless miles on the open road. Despite the long hours and distance from home, Jimmy always cherished the moments when he returned to his family. Jimmy met the love of his life Patti (Holmes) Plotts, on a blind date that was set up by mutual friends, that never ended. They spent many amazing years with countless memories together that she will cherish always.
Jimmy was not only an exceptional truck driver but also a dedicated family man. He held the title of "Husband" "Father" and "Grandfather" with great pride and joy. His proudest accomplishments were undoubtedly his children and grandchildren. James's love for his family knew no bounds, and he consistently went above and beyond to ensure their happiness.
In addition to his devotion to family, Jimmy had a vibrant personality that touched the lives of many. Described as loving, caring, and hardworking, he left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him. His warm-hearted nature made him a cherished friend and confidant.
Outside of work and family life, Jimmy pursued various hobbies and interests that brought him immense pleasure. Bowling was one of his greatest passions, one where he showcased incredible talent by winning several tournaments. When not refining his bowling skills, he indulged in the world of trains- watching and recording them for hours.
But perhaps one of the most iconic images associated with Jimmy is him sitting in his favorite chair while engrossed in television shows. It was during these quiet moments that he found solace and relaxation—a much-deserved respite from his busy and eventful life.
