James William Drake

James William Drake, 51, of Temple, TX passed away on Sunday, May 15, 2022, at his residence.

Family services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on July 23, 2022 at Crosspointe Baptist Church located at 550 Worthington Rd. Owensboro, KY 42301

James was born on May 2, 1971, to Deva and James Drake in Fort Rucker, AL. He was a proud Army brat and did enjoy the experience of living in different places. James was proud to be born in Alabama, while being from Kentucky, and growing up in Texas. James admired his father’s military career and served in the U.S. Navy. He was an avid fan of the University of Kentucky Wildcats and Baylor University Bears. He enjoyed fireworks and was considered quite the practical joker. James was a very giving person and would give his last dime to a stranger. He was always very thoughtful.  His family will miss his helpfulness and the ways he always made them laugh.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, William Stein and Marty Stein, and Vinuard Drake, whom he was very close to, and Helen Drake.

James is survived by his father, James D. Drake and wife, Ava of Temple; his mother, Deva Drake and husband, Frank Kubacak of Cedar Park; his two sisters, Tekoa “Tiki” Kuras and husband, Bill of Maple Grove, MN, and Tiffany English and husband, Joey of Leander, TX; his nieces and nephews, Kyle Kuras, Abby Kuras, Maddy Kuras, Christopher Kuras, Cooper English, Parker English; his aunt, Sheila Melander and husband, Chuck Louisville, KY ;  his uncle, Bruce Drake and wife, Melinda of Lexington, KY, and several cherished cousins.
