Memorial service for George Peter Rakowitz, age 82, will be 1 PM Friday February 3, 2023, at Crotty Funeral Home in Belton with H.K Ballard. George passed away peacefully at Creekside Terrace Rehabilitation center in Belton on December 21, 2022.
George was born in Poteet, Texas on March 13, 1940. While working on his family farm he attended Lemming Elementary School and Pleasanton High School. George is a veteran of the Vietnam War. He served honorably in the United States Army for twenty-two years achieving the rank of Master Seargent before retiring. After receiving his associates degree in Applied Science at Central Texas College, he pursued a career as a local postman. Following twenty-seven years of friendly service, mostly to the community in Belton, Texas, he retired. Since then, he spent most of his time doing what he loved: gardening, fishing, visiting with friends and family, loving on his grand babies, and “running errands”.
He is preceded in death by his parents Teofil Rakowitz and Helen Kolodziej Rakowitz, his brother Jesse Rakowitz, and his sister Bernice Adamietz.
He is survived by his ex-wife Mary Rakowitz, his son David Rakowitz, his two daughters Lisa Beltran and Michelle Hedrick, his brothers Charlie Rakowitz and his wife Sharon of Poteet, Tx, Jerry Rakowitz of Poteet, Tx, and Tommy Rakowitz and his wife Linda of Sandia, Tx, his sister Mary Rakowitz Landis and her husband Marvin, eleven loving grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
Arrangements are entrusted to Crotty Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Belton.
