Temple, Texas

Elizabeth "Beth" Marie (Motal) Lewis,47, of Temple passed away on Saturday, September 10, 2022.

A visitation for Beth will be held on Thursday, September 15, 2022, from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Crotty Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Belton. Her memorial service will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, September 16, 2022, at St. Joseph's Episcopal Church in Salado with Reverend Dr. Lynn Osgood officiating.

Elizabeth Marie (Motal) Lewis was born on March 28, 1975 to Daniel and Bernice Motal.  As a child, Beth enjoyed the outdoors, but nothing made her happier than spending time with her family.  She especially loved eating kolaches at her Grandma and Grandpa Motal’s on Sunday mornings, and sitting in the attic with her cousins at her Grandma and Grandpa Seidenberger's. Beth’s cousins filled her heart with so much happiness.

Beth met the love of her life, Joseph Lewis, at Columbus High School.  Beth graduated from Columbus in 1993, and began her college education at Blinn College where she played her clarinet in the marching band.

Beth married Joseph on February 11,1995.  Joseph and Beth then began their beautiful life together. They hopped a few states due to the Navy, and eventually landed in Connecticut long enough for her to earn her bachelor's degree from Eastern Connecticut. Beth always had a great love for kids, so she used her degree to become an elementary school teacher.

After returning to Texas, Beth was overjoyed when she became a mother to Victoria and Sara.  Beth wanted nothing more in life than to be a mom.  Beth always poured her whole heart into being a mother.  There are no words that could ever describe the intense love she has for those two girls.

Beth’s brother, David, and sister, Julie, wanted to make sure and note Beth’s love of special moments.  Long before iPhones, Beth had a large camera that she would pull out the minute she was with the family or with friends.  She’d often sneak up on you, snap a picture, giggle, and then move on to make sure and take more pictures.  She scrapbooked so many photos and the proof can be seen by the stacks of scrapbooks on her shelves.  Beth would even email about her daughters and send pictures, only to print that email out and scrapbook it.

Beth loved being with her family and often made sure to plan our next visit before we ended the current visit.  She loved to laugh, have fun, and of course, capture moments.

Beth always put everyone else first.  She was always concerned about others and wanted to know how we were doing.  She was kind, compassionate, and unbelievably loving.  Sadly, many of Beth’s amazing personality traits made her also susceptible to depression, which she suffered through the last couple months, and the depression consumed her life.  Beth’s love was an image of Christ's love for us.

Beth is survived by her husband of 27 years, Joseph Lewis; daughters, Victoria and Sara Lewis; parents, Daniel and Bernice Motal; mother and father-in-law, Joe and Sara Lewis; brother, David Motal (Denise); sister, Julie Center (Kenny); four nieces, Grace Motal, Jenna Motal, Audrey Motal and Shelby Center; two nephews, Easton Center and Wesley Motal; and countless aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Beth is preceded in death by her grandparents, Charles and Victoria Motal, and Adolph and Henrietta Seidenberger.

We invite all who attend the services to wear Beth’s favorite color, purple.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline, which is now 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline. https://988lifeline.org/donate
