Don Earl Berry, 78, passed away on March 30, 2024, in Georgetown, TX.
Don Berry was born on October 24, 1945, in Kerrville, TX, to Earl Berry and Ellen Berry.
Don graduated from Tivy High School in 1964 and went on to Schreiner University and then Southwestern University in Georgetown where he earned a degree in Economics and Education. He taught school in Bartlett, Tx, and later at Windham School District, a correctional education system for the State of Texas. In addition to teaching, he was a farmer and rancher.
Don married Suzanne Scharnberg on May 28th of 1966 at Mt. Wesley, Kerrville TX. They had 2 children, Amanda Berry Foreman, of Georgetown, Gregory Wayne Berry of San Antonio. He was also a "Whoa-Whoa" to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Don was a member of the Salado United Methodist Church where he served as a lay leader. Later, he became a member of Yancey Methodist Church. He believed in God the Father, Jesus Christ as the Son of God, and the Holy Spirit. The death, descent into hell, resurrection, and ascension of Christ. The holiness of the Church and the communion of saints.
Don loved to sit by an outdoor fire and tell stories. He taught his children what it looks like to be gracious, compassionate, and generous to the core. Don and Suzanne's legacy was the combined parenting of their children.
Don is survived by his best friend and the mother of his children, Suzanne Allen, daughter, Amanda Berry Foreman (Charlie Foreman), son, Greg Berry (Sarah) 13 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Don is preceded in death by his mother, Ellen Wilson Berry, father, Earl Truman Berry, and sisters, Judy Berry Johnson and Betty Berry Stacy.
If Don had the chance to share today, he would remind us all that, 100 years goes fast. You better take it in. This was something that he shared with his children over and over. Capture the moments you have while you have them. He would then ask, "What are you doing to capture the special moments in your life?"
A memorial service for Don Berry will be held on April 5, at 11 am at Yancey Methodist Church, Yancey, TX.
Memorial donations can be made in Don's name to the American Cancer Society.
