Dennis Lee Smith, husband, father, son, brother, Pops, Associate Pastor of FTL church, EMS and Security Director at Hilltop Lakes, rode to heaven on March 5, 2024, at the age of 61. Born on April 17, 1962, in Sherman, Texas, Dennis' life was characterized by his unwavering faith and his dedication to serving others.
Funeral services for Dennis will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, March 9, 2024 with Pastor Jackie Cox officiating with visitation will be held one hour t 1:00 PM at FTL Church in Temple. His burial will follow at Resthaven Cemetery in Belton.
Dennis' early years laid a strong foundation of family values and community service. As a young man, he graduated from Temple High School in 1980, and became an Emergency Medical Technician - Paramedic. His 36 years in the EMS community were marked by selflessness and courage, as he responded to the call of duty with unwavering commitment, saving countless lives.
While his professional life was dedicated to helping strangers, Dennis' heart belonged to his family. He is survived by, his wife of 37 years, Sheila, children Miracle, Brittani, and Devin, grandchildren, Harley and Jordyn Higgins, Mallory Garrison, parents Garland and Bertha Smith, his brother David, alongside sister-in-law Lisa, and his many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother Dean Smith.
Dennis was a man of simple pleasures. He enjoyed preaching, leading worship, riding his Harley with his brothers and sisters in Christ, fishing, and taking naps in his favorite chair with his beloved dog, Wild Thing.
Those who knew Dennis would describe him as faith-filled. His generous spirit was evident and his kind-hearted nature made him a friend to all. Dennis' impact is profound, and his absence is felt deeply by his family, friends, church family and the community he served with such passion.
As we bid farewell to Dennis Lee Smith, we celebrate a life well-lived, full of purpose, love, and joy. His memory will be cherished, and his spirit will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have known him. We can celebrate in knowing that he is in Heaven, and has heard the words, “Well done, my good and faithful servant.”
