Debbie was a lifelong resident of Waco, where she also drew her last breath surrounded by the comforting embrace of her hometown.
Debbie’s life was one marked by an unwavering devotion to her family and an infectious enthusiasm for music that brought joy to all who knew her. She is lovingly remembered by her son, Steve Johnson of Temple, who was the apple of her eye. Her siblings, Ricky Hatter and wife Robin of Troy, Mary Preece and husband Coy of Richland Springs, Tommy Hatter and Annie of Waco, Larry Hatter of Temple, Carol Mathias and husband Robbie of Belton, and LulaJo Beerwinkle of Moody, also survive her, each carrying a piece of her spirit. Debbie was the cherished aunt to several nieces and nephews, who will miss her presence at family gatherings where her laughter often filled the room. She was preceded in death by her father, Logan Hatter, her mother, Dorothy Ballard, her brother James Hatter, and her sister, Cora Lee Jones, who have welcomed her into eternal rest.
Known for her loving nature, Debbie was the kind of person who always put others before herself. Her passion for life was evident in the way she embraced each day with a thoughtful and caring heart. Her family and friends will forever remember her as the person who could light up a room with her smile and warm the coldest day with her kindness.
