Darryl ""Pops"" Hubert Powell

Darryl "Pops" Hubert Powell 75, of Troy passed away on Friday, September 15, 2017 at his residence. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at Keys Valley Baptist Church in Belton with Pastor Roy Jamison officiating. Cremation will take place following funeral services. Darryl was born on December 28, 1941 to W.B. and Cornelia Powell in Barclay.He was raised in the country and even raised a champion prize bull as a child. Darryl served in the Air Force and was a fifth generation Texan. He worked as a Truck Driver most of his life. Darryl enjoyed dove hunting, horses, fishing, all animals, and spending time with his family. He enjoyed dove hunting so much he had plans to go days before he passed. He will be dearly missed. He is preceded in death by his wife, Lavern Barron Powell in February 1993; his companion for many years, Malinda Kinsey on September 4,2017, and his sister, Mary Katherine Vasicek. He is survived by his son, Darryl Wayne Powell of Waco; his step sons, Cliff Kinsey of Hillsboro, Bobby Anderson of Moody; his daughters, Liz Clark of Marble Falls, Robin Williams of Marble Falls, Sandy Marek of Rosebud, Judy Robbins of Salem, VA; his step daughters,Melody Babiszewski of Moody, Tammy Lawson Cooper of San Antonio, Shanna Kinsey of Hubbard , and Ann Kinsey Turner of Belton; one sister Jane Ann Powell of Barclay: seventeen grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.
