Carlos Alberto Gutierrez Jr.,65, of Harker Heights, passed away peacefully on April 16, 2024 at 3:33 PM, which is known to be the number of the Angels at a Temple hospital.
Carlos was born on December 21, 1958, in Guayaquil, Ecuador, to his loving parents Carlos Guiterrez Sr. and Jerwiz Banchon. He was a man of many talents and passions, dedicating his life to the beautiful game of soccer both as a coach and as a volunteer in the community he cherished.
Carlos's journey led him to Vicente Rocafuerte College, where he pursued his education and obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology. His profound love for sports, especially for America Barcelona Football team alongside his family, defined much of his essence. His warm personality and exceptional culinary skills made him an amazing cook who could whip up the most delicious Ecuadorian dishes, with his rice being second to none.
Throughout the years, those closest to him have countless memories of watching him coach with passion and witnessing him engage in activities he loved dearly. His infectious laughter could easily be remembered through his phone calls that never failed to lighten up your day and he always brought joy to those around him.
Beyond soccer and cooking, Carlos found joy in playing tennis and being active until health setbacks slowed him down due to a battle with illness stemming from his weak heart - yet he still held the biggest heart in the world. Despite these challenges, Carlos faced life with resilience and strength that inspired all who knew him.
He is survived by his loving wife, Flor Ordonez; his beloved son, Carlos Gutierrez III; his cherished daughter, Andrea Betancourt; his brothers, Cesar Augusto, Cristobal Aquites, Miguel Augusto, Carlos Eric, Ronald Vicente; sisters Martha Elizabeth, Nimia Maria, Mayra Alexandra, Kayra Elizabeth, Silvia Consuelito; three grandchildren; along with a multitude of lifelong friends and community members whose lives he touched.

Carlos leaves behind a legacy of compassion, dedication to his passions, and unwavering love for his family that will forever be remembered by those who had the privilege of knowing him. In every match played on the field he tread or meal served at the table he gathered around with loved ones – Carlos's spirit lives on as a beacon of light and inspiration for us all. Rest in peace dear Carlos Alberto Guiterrez Jr., your memory will forever be cherished in our hearts.
