Carl Raymond Wiltsey

Carl ""Johnny"" Raymond Wiltsey, 76, passed away in Temple, TX on Saturday, May 12, 2018. A Memorial will be held at Veteran's Memorial Cemetery in Killeen on May 17, 2018 at 1:00PM. Carl was born on February 3, 1942 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa to Ai and Irene Wiltsey. The family moved to Texas in 1952. He served in the United States Air Force for over 30 years, doing tours in France, The Philippines, Panama and 2 tours in Viet Nam. He retired with a Honorable Discharge in 1981, having been awarded numerous medals and commendations. He served proudly, and continued to serve by supporting the DAV, VFW, Paralyzed Veterans and The American Legion. After retirement, he enjoyed life doing things his way and to the fullest, by becoming a licensed realtor, owning the Trinity Tavern Bar and Grill in Austin, Daddy John's BBQ in Somerville, becoming a licensed Chef, after graduating from Le Courdon Bleu College of Culinary Arts in Dallas, where he perfected his passion and flare for cooking. He finally settled down in Tyler, Tx where he enjoyed his retirement, cooking for family and friends, and winning hundreds of ribbons over the years at the State Fair in Tyler. He loved his family dearly, and dedicated the remainder of his retirement spending time with his beloved wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, and doing the things he loved to do. He was preceded in death by his wife, Tommie Wiltsey in 2008; parents, Ai and Irene Wiltsey; brothers Donald Wiltsey and Richard Franks; sister, Nancy Fletcher, and his step daughter Wendy Duncan. Carl is survived by his children; Carla Briggs of Troy, Tx, Ronald Wiltsey, Ramonia Buchannan, and Johnny Wiltsey Jr.; along with step daughters Nancy Rene' Mitchell and Judy Allen; and, his sisters Linda Stuart and Debra Wiltsey of Bakersfield, CA ; and many adored grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
