Bill Joe Wood

    Billy Joe Wood, 71, passed away Monday, December 6, 2021 at Scott & White Memorial Hospital in Temple, Texas.

    Bill, a graduate of both Taylor High School and Baylor University, was born the youngest of 3 children on November 29, 1950 to C.H. and Francess (McKelroy) Wood in Waco, Texas.

    As both a History teacher and a Pastor, Bill spent many years in Texas, Louisiana, and California during his career before retiring in Central Texas near his childhood home. Through the years, Bill became interested in genealogy and spent numerous hours researching and recording the lineage of his family tree. Bill was also an avid singer/songwriter, as well as a published author, who rarely met a stranger and always looked for small ways to make others smile either through singing and playing his guitar or telling stories and jokes.

    Bill was preceded in death by his loving parents and older brother Charles Wood.

    Bill is survived by his sister, Joyce Selucky and husband Gilbert; his 4 children, Philip Wood and wife Misty, Rachel (Wood) Beasley and husband Kerry, Aaron Wood and wife Megan, and Mark Wood; his 6 granddaughters, Ashley Webb, Hannah Wood, Kaylee (Webb) Little and husband Alex, Daisy Wood, Laura Webb, and Mary Lindsey Wood; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and close friends.

    A Memorial Service will be held for the family.
