Barbara Jean Boyd

June 9, 1949 — November 26, 2024

Barbara Jean Boyd, a beloved matriarch, passed away peacefully on November 26, 2024, in Temple, Texas, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on June 9 1949, in Moody, Texas, Barbara dedicated her life to caring for her family and cultivating the warmth of home.

Known for her lively spirit, Barbara was a remarkably funny and outspoken individual. She had a special knack for making those around her feel cherished, always going out of her way to support her loved ones. Barbara's fondest memories were often woven into the fabric of spontaneous adventures with her family, frequently embarking on car rides without a predetermined destination. These moments epitomized her vibrant personality and zest for life.

Barbara found immense joy in simple pleasures. Her talents in cooking and baking were surpassed only by her love for her family. She was renowned for creating the best dressing, a dish that brought smiles to many faces during family gatherings. In addition to her culinary skills, Barbara cherished quiet moments spent indulging in crosswords and watching westerns, offering her a delightful escape into stories both old and new.

Her family was undoubtedly her proudest accomplishment. She is survived by her devoted sons, Bill Ross, Phill Ross, Steve Ross and his wife, Pam, Joe Ross and his wife, Crystal; her loving daughters, Melissa Saunders and her husband, Darrell, and Barbara Morgan and her husband, Bobby. Barbara will be deeply missed by her brothers, Rick Lasly and David Lasly; and her sisters, Joan Rushing, Vickie Horsch, Nancy Annette Skrabanek, and Helen Peters. She leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter in the hearts of her twenty-five grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Danny Boyd, her parents, Marvin and Ruby Lasly, her brothers, Donald Lasly, Marvin Lasly, Darrell Lasly, Mike Lasly, Curtis Lasly, along with her baby sister, Janie Lanel Lasly. Each of these individuals held a special place in her heart and are remembered fondly by those who loved her.

A visitation will be held to honor her life on December 2, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Don Summers Funeral Home located at 1630 Martin Luther King Jr Dr, Temple, TX 76504. A funeral service will follow on December 3, 2024, starting at 12:00 PM with Pastor Rick Lasly officiating, followed by her burial at Old Perry Cemetery in Moody, Texas.

Barbara Jean Boyd will forever be remembered as a vibrant soul, whose laughter lightened the hearts of many and whose spirit will continue to guide her family through all of the days ahead. Her kindness, humor, and unwavering love will live on in the cherished memories of those she leaves behind.
