Martinez, Amalio, age 83, peacefully went to meet his maker Thursday, July 20, 2017 at an Assisted Living Center in Temple, Texas. He was born July 10, 1934 in Durango, Mexico to Augustin and Maria (Rameriz) Martinez. On December 31, 1960, he married the love of his life, Rosa M. Martinez. They had been married for 56 years at the time of his passing. Amalio enjoyed a simple life, but was a fierce proponent of justice and equality. He highly admired historical figures like: John F Kennedy, Robert Kennedy, Martin Luther King Jr., Cesar Chavez, and Francisco Villa for their stance against injustice. Survivors include his beloved wife Rosa; his four sons and two daughters, Martin Martinez of Belton, Oscar Martinez of Belton, Freddy Martinez of Temple, Rick Martinez of Monterrey, Mexico, Rosie Martinez of Temple, and Pati Livingston of Hampton, Virginia. Additionally, Amalio was survived by 17 grandchildren: Nina Rubio of Houston, Anthony Martinez of Victoria, Samantha Lozano of Midland, Stephanie Martinez of Corpus Christi, Nicolette Martinez of Temple, Chloe Rocha of San Marcos, Elena Martinez of Temple, Lincoln and Amber Livingston of Hampton, Hailley Martinez, Holley Martinez, Brad Martinez, Brady Martinez, and Kylie Martinez all of Kountz, Texas , Benjamin Barrerra of Houston, Gregory Martinez of Golthwaite, and Allisson Martinez of Durango, Mexico. Moreover, he also left behind six adored great grandchildren: Ava, Adam, and Ayden Lozano of Midland, Layla & Lily of Temple, Aubreigh Navarro of Corpus Christi, and Asher Lozano who is anticipated to arrive September, 2017. Mr. Martinez is also survived by three brothers: Rosalio Martinez of Belton, Jose Martinez of Laredo, and Jose Angel Martinez of Durango. He is preceded in death by his parents, Augustin and Maria Martinez. A brother, Isidoro Martinez, three sisters: Josepha Soto, Nieves Fuentes, and Maria Martinez. To his children, he leaves a legacy of hard work and fierce love towards their mother, Rosa M. Martinez. He will be missed by all who loved him. A visitation will be held on Sunday, July 23, 2017 from 12 noon till 4:00 p.m. with rosary scheduled from 4 to 5 p.m. at Crotty Funeral Home in Belton Texas.
